Abstract

Beginning with an overview of the current bases for the development of normal psycho motor skills this paper will emphasise the importance of the environment both for the evolution of motor skills and for the structuring of personality; some of the frequent psycho motor disorders are defined such as incorrect expression in this process during the early years. Also some observations will be made on the specific subjective difficulties of children with handicaps. Then a framework for the use of psycho motor therapy will be defined, objectives and content. The point of departure being a global vision of the child, that is, including the body and from principals of intervention that concord with the dynamic line of psychomotricity proposed and practised by Bernard Aucouturier.
