Abstract

This article reviews the current status of initial training for psychopedagogists and the emerging changes that are bringing about a new and still uncertain shift in professional training. Some of theses changes are: a) Spain's new education law (Ley Orgánica de Educación 2/2006), which has introduced changes to secondary school teachers' initial training. Also, the introduction of a Masters in teachers training, with an area of expertise in educational training, which will be compulsory for anyone seeking work in a Secondary School, b) the redesign of degree courses in accordance with the European Higher Education Area; and c) the emergence of many diverse training proposals aimed at psychopedagogical practice. All of these changes have created a panorama of uncertainty, which it is hoped will not affect in a negative way a profession that already has its own identity.
