Catalonia-Nicaragua: making a dream come true

Abstract

Our association "Friends of santo Tomás and Somotillo" is an ONG which develops health and educational projects among others, in the north of Nicaragua. As professionals of psychology we assume the coordination of the special needs project of the association. This article pretends to explain who we are as association, what we do and how we manage to do it. We want to expalin the Special Education project highlighting the personal experience that we had last summer travelling to Nicaragua and all that we learnt in this trip, which also was an interior trip. Our goal is transmitting the vaalue of the project paying special attention to handicap children needs in Nicaragua and mainly the reality of population in which our association is working on. We pretend to encourage people's solidarity and cooperation in other countrie where reality and resources are very different from ours.
