Abstract

This article presents a synthesis of school culture, which we think is the base to build a school community headed towards inclusion. The word “headed” has been chosen because there is still a long way to achieve total inclusion, but the authors believe that we have what’s necessary to follow that path: a vision of education centered on the ethics of care, an educational project based on social harmony and equality, a way of working that places the person (not just the student) in the center, a horizontal and democratic leadership, a creative facing of problems, the teaching staff abilities as a tool…All these factors come together with different methodological and organizational formulae, which are equally intertwined with other school projects aiming at working with social harmony, which enhance inclusion and the sense of belonging such as special days, cinema, the equality plan, the radio or the party-zip-action project.
