Challenge death, live in a hurry. Some reflections on adolescence
Abstract
The adolescence is a myth of western society. In other cultures according to antropologist this myth does not exist. In this situation we hide the fear to talk to children about death, the fear of losing their childhood and youth. In the extreme case it is an expression of not accepting the adult’s responsabilities.
The majority of the young are not rebels. They are manipulatet by the market economy and de fashion promotors.In the same way as parents surrendering to the stress of modern life. The author’s intention is that the family, the school and the community do not renounce their funtion to contribute democratic criteria and values, norms and constrains. But it is very important for state institutions, the mass-media and companies to contribuite to this mission.
